Mrs. Lewis had lived in Sedalia since 1920. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Reapers Sunday School Class, Women’s Missionary Union and a leader of Children’s and Adult Mission activities. She was a graduate of Sedalia High School Class of 1924. She was active in school parent teachers organizations where she was president of the area PTA Council. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Her interests included sewing, reading and gardening. Employment included telephone operator and later a sales lady for Conner-Wagoner.
Survivors include a son, Frank Dale Lewis, Sedalia; a granddaughter, Melanie Jane Davis, Poplarville, MS; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Richard Downey, Mt. Pleasant, Ia. and a sister, Winona Howard, Euless, Tx. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jeffrey Dale Lewis; two brothers, twins, Lloyd and Lawrence Downey and two sisters; Edna Garner and Olive Kubite.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Drew Hill and Rev. Stan Davis officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jack Chambers, Owen Fox DeWayne Johnson, Ed Kirby, Bobbie Lee and Elwood Mather. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Bailey and Ralph Huff.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Eva Isabel Lewis, 102, of Sedalia died Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2008 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp.
She was born November 11, 1905 in Howard County, a daughter of John E. and Rena Johnson Downey. On June 18, 1927 in Sedalia she married Frank J. Lewis who died in 1983.
