She was married to Henry Lamm, Jr., who died in 1963. For 45 years she assisted in the operation of Grandview Dairy, Henry Lamm Farms, and other properties.
In 1964 she married Cecil Lutgen, who died in 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Grace Edmondson, and husband Bob; a daughter-in-law, Berna Dean Lamm; a step-son, Kenneth Lutgen, and wife Betty; and a brother, Adolph Ficken, and wife Elizabeth.
Also surviving a re four granddaughters; Kathy Sandford, and husband Jim; Georgia Pilliard, and husband Daniel; Roberta Smith, and husband Rick; Laura Powell, and husband Rick; five great-grandsons, Sean Pilliard, and wife Kara; Ed Sandford, and wife Heather; Brad Smith, and wife Tiffany; Derek Smith; and Colton Powell; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Pilliard; three great great-grandsons, Lowell Pilliard, Clay Pilliard, and Gage Smith; and one great-great granddaughter, Grace Sandford. Also surviving are three step-grandchildren, eight step great- grandchildren, and seven great-great step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert; a son, Henry Lamm, III; four sisters, and two brothers.
For many years she was a member of High Point Homemakers. She was among the first volunteers at the Children’s Therapy Center. In World War II, she worked with the Junior Red Cross. She was a member of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Graveside services will be at 1p.m. Friday at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Yvonne Marshall officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church or the Children’s Therapy Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home. Selma Lutgen died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Sylvia Thompson Residence Center.
She was born April 23, 1902, in Benton County, the daughter of Henry and Sena Koenke Ficken.
