Opal Lorene McCubbin, 82, formerly of Sedalia, died Friday, December 28, 2007, at Truman Medical Care Center-Lakewood, Kansas City, MO.

She was born April 13, 1925, in Sedalia, a daughter of James W. and Grace Williams. On July 4, 1946, in Sedalia, she married Joseph M. McCubbin, who survives of his home in Lee’s Summit.
Lorene lived in Sedalia most of her life. She was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in 1943. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved her husband and family so much. Her passions were cooking for family and friends, decorating her home and shopping.

Also surviving are two sons, Ron McCubbin and his wife Ruth,  Jim McCubbin and his wife Kim, and a daughter, Cindy Skiles and her husband Gary, all of Blue Springs; eight grandchildren, Kimberly McCubbin, Wesley McCubbin, Heather Gille, Shelley McCubbin, Weston Skiles, Matt Skiles, Marci Hester and Lori Goodman; five great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Irma Williams and a brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs officiating.

Pallbearers will be Wesley McCubbin, Matt Skiles, Weston Skiles, Dennis Yates,
Shannon Yates, Layton Yates, Waybern Yates, Shawn McCubbin and Glenn McCubbin.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
