Mrs. Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church of Sedalia. She worked as a teacher’s aide, helping handicapped children, and taught many children in Sunday School classes. She enjoyed cooking meals for family and friends, and traveling. She also did missionary work in Africa, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the U.S. She believed in working hard and praising God everyday.
She had severe rheumatory arthritis that she did not let slow her down. She was an inspiration to people her age by all she accomplished with her handicap.
Surviving are a son, David Carroll Floyd, and his wife, Mickey, of Sedalia; two granddaughters, Amanda Carroll Fisher, and her husband, Greg, of Fairfax, VA, and Meaghan Melinda Regashus, and her husband, Matt, of Waukesha, WI; a great-granddaughter, Emily Fisher; and a brother, Marcus Mansholt, of Staunton, IL.
She was also predeceased by a brother, Emmert Mansholt; and two sisters, Ruth Huber and Melba Mansholt.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Greenville, IL.
Pallbearers will be Merl Huber, Marcus Mansholt, Dr. Michael Fleissner, Alfred Floyd, Todd Metzger and Matt Regashus.
Burial will be in Payne Cemetery in Tamalco, IL. Family and friends will gather for dinner in
Greenville following the burial.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
A local visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home. A prayer led by Dr. Drew Hill will conclude the visitation at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
Aurelia Dorothy Amanda Floyd, 86, of Sedalia, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born April 11, 1922, in New Douglas, IL, a daughter of Charles and Emma Johnson Mansholt. On May 26, 1945, in Greenville, IL, she was married to Harold Marcus Floyd, who died Jan. 21, 2006.
