Earl Richard Albers, 73, of Otterville, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

He was born April 28, 1930, in Exter, Nebraska, son of Herman B. and Frieda Simon Albers. On October 18, 1953, in Sedalia, he married Lucinda Schelp, who survives of the home.

Mr. Albers was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He served as a lay Lutheran minister in Yates Center, Kansas, Helena, Arkansas and Brinkville, Missouri congregations. He received his Associates of Arts degree in Theology in 1981 from the Concordia College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.  He worked as a bank courier for Via Bank Courier Company for many years. His favorite hobby was gardening and taking his fresh vegetables to the farmers market. He had lived most of his life in the Pettis County area.

Survivors include a daughter, Cinthia Titus, of Excelsior Springs, MO; a brother, Kenneth Albers, of Camdenton, MO; a sister, Mildred Shelton, of Lincoln, NE; and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services will held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2004 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Ronald Hoehne officiating.

Pallbearers will be elders of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2591 will conduct full military honors at the graveside.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel. Friends may call after 12:00 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bothwell Hospice or to the Earl R. Albers Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
