Louise Alexander, 89, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at BothwellRegional Health Center.
She was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Longwood, a daughter of Frank C. and GertrudeMae Glazebrook Chaney. On April 4, 1938, in Sedalia, she was married to Roy Alexander, who died Feb. 18, 1992.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of Parkview Christian
Church and a former member of La Monte Christian Church, where she was a member of K.J.U. She was a member of Sorosis, Dresden Homemakers, La Monte Garden Club, the Red Hat Club at Stoney Ridge Village and Osage Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was very active in the Republican Party for many years. She served as president of the Republican Women’s Club and of Dorcas Circle. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, arranging flowers and doing nice things for people.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosalee Jordan, and Ruthann Alexander, both of
Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Wes Jordan, Christa Harlow, Peggy Zaret, Ed Romano,
Teresa Rhinehelder, Roy Steele, David Steele and Donnie Steele; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and three nieces.
She was predeceased by a grandson, John Steele; a brother, Frank C. “Buck” Chaney; a brother in infancy; and a sister, Marjorie B. Chaney, in childhood.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wes Jordan, Roy Steele, Ed Romano, Zachary Rhinehelder, Abe Kropp and Robert Schlender.
Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond and Maybelle Wasson, James and Mary Elizabeth DeMotte, Luther Jordan and James Steele.
Burial will be in La Monte Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
