Eldon E. Arnett, 78, of Green Ridge, died Sunday morning, March 21, 2004 at his home.

He was born March 29, 1925, in Green Ridge, son of Elias and Gladys Denny Arnett.  On December 17, 1950, at Camp Branch Baptist Church in Sedalia, he married Vera Gorrell, who survives of the home.

Mr. Arnett was a member of Faith & Love Family Church and the United Postal Union.  He enjoyed farming, riding his tractor, mechanics and gardening.  He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.  He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

Also surviving are two sons, Harvey Arnett and Merlin Arnett, both of Alexandria, Louisiana; a daughter, Tonia Martin, of Green Ridge; five granddaughters; two great grandsons; and a sister, Christine Wallen, of Sedalia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. William Hopkins officiating.

Pallbearers will be Perry McCollester, Ronny Nichols, Richard Arnett, Dale Arnett, Harold Brown and Sam Dove officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
