She was a member of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked as a nurse
aide at Fair View Nursing Home. Jessie enjoyed being around her friends and close
family. She moved to Sedalia in 1974 from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Survivors include a son Rick Carpenter and his wife Tina, of Des Moines, IA;
three grandchildren, Tisha, Tara and Chloe Carpenter; a sister, Ada Sipe, Charlotte,
SC and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Carpenter, Sedalia.
She was predeceased by two sons, Tom Carpenter and Chuck Carpenter; a sister,
Elizabeth Jean Holbert; and a step brother, Joe Victor.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2006 at
Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Yvonne Marshall officiating.
There will be no family visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heckart/Gillespie Funeral
Home.
Jessie Mae Barber, 67, of Sedalia, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Bothwell
Regional Health Center.
She was born September, 30, 1938, in Maysville, Kentucky, a daughter of Charles
Otis and Anna Elizabeth Clinger Carpenter. On May 8, 1977, in Sedalia, she married,
Byron Barber, who died February 15, 1993.
