Jerry Lee Brock, 75, of Otterville, died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Neosho, a son of Otis Carmen "Pete" and Bernice Beatrice Byler Brock. On May 27, 1951, in Carthage, he married Margaret L. Thompson, who survives of the home.
Jerry grew up on a farm near Anderson, where he graduated from high school. God called Jerry into the gospel ministry, to which he has been faithful in serving Him. He attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, and received a degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He received a Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Doctor of Theology degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jerry pastored Southern Baptist churches for 22 years in Missouri, Texas, Kansas, California, West Virginia, Michigan and Ohio. He then entered full-time work as an evangelist, where he preached in many churches across America, including 100 area-wide and city-wide crusades. He also preached in India, The Philippines, Romania, Jamaica, Brazil, and the Ukraine. His local pastorates were Bethany Baptist Church in Sedalia, First Baptist Church in Otterville, and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Warsaw. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sedalia.

He was the author of a newsletter, booklets, videos and cassettes. He was president of Missouri Baptist Evangelists for two years. In 1990, Jerry received the outstanding service award from the Fellowship of Missouri Evangelists. His greatest joy was telling others the Good News about God’s love and kindness, that Jesus Christ could be their own personal Savior.

Also surviving are a son, Steve C. Brock, and his wife, Nora, of Nome, Ak.; a daughter, Jane Haley, and her husband, CP, of Chesterfield; a sister, Cherry Stillions, of Goodman; a brother, Gayle Brock, and his wife, Linda, of Anderson; two grandchildren, Stephanie Brock and Joshua Brock; two step grandchildren, Heather Ongtowasruk and Brandon Ongtowasruk; and a step great grandson, Owen Smith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Sedalia, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
