Benjamin Gordon Smith, 99, of Sedalia, died April 30, 2006, at Four Seasons Living Center. 

He was born December 19, 1906, in Pettis County, a son of Albert P. and Julia Morris Smith. On October 10, 1935, in Sedalia, he married Ruby Ellis, who died June 27, 1990.

Mr. Smith worked as a road grader operator for the 12 Mile Special Road District for 32 years. He attended First United Methodist Church. He was a clock collector and enjoyed repairing them and collecting antique gasoline engines. He enjoyed having lunch at the Sedalia Senior Center and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Kreisel, and her husband, Eldon, of Hughesville; three grandchildren, Keith Utley, Lisa Rhodes and Linda Rieckhoff; a step granddaughter, Nicole Kreisel; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Smith, Eldon Smith and Lloyd Smith; and two sisters, Edith Rogers and Alberta Neef; and a granddaughter, April Hiller.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating. 

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions to the Sedalia Senior Center.
