Dr. Bobby L. Smith Jr., 44, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

He was born June 9, 1963, in Sedalia, a son of Bobby
LeRoy and Martha Bronson Smith, Sr.


Mr. Smith was a graduate of Green Ridge High School. He earned a bachelor’s
degree at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and a medical doctor degree from
University of Missouri-Kansas City. He served his internship at University of Kansas Medical Center, Genesys Medical Center, in Flint, Michigan, Detroit, Michigan, Sedalia and Clinton, Missouri, and Wichita, Kansas. He was an ENT specialist, Otorhinolarynologist with an ENT practice in McAlester, Oklahoma and Flint, Michigan.

Bobby expressed he loved being a doctor and helping others, especially children and older adults. Bobby would fight for his patients and he fought hard for his life.

Surviving are his father, of Sedalia; his mother, Martha Hernandez, and her husband, Pedro, of Topeka; a son, Justin Smith, of Flint, Mich.; three brothers, Thomas K. Smith, of Sweet Springs, Dr. Derek D. Smith, of Sedalia, and Pedro P. Hernandez Jr., of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Melissa A. Smith, of Sedalia, Deborah J. Owen, of Topeka, Kan., and Dr. Cara Smith L. Van Dorn, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and his maternal grandparents, John and Anna Bronson, of Sedalia.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Devona Smith; and his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Bronson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at Heckart  Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Downing officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Bronson III, Ethan Thomas Smith, Randy Kreisel, Duane
Schroeder, Albert Reine Sr. and Kevin Bronson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bronson, Dr. Alan Allmon, Donald Smith, Ray
Morrison, Dr. Richard Cooper and Dr. Theresa Cooper.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Justin Smith Educational Fund.
