Charles L. Byrd, 47, of Smithton, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at his home.

Mr. Byrd was an artist and sculptor. He recently moved to the area with his life partner.

Surviving are his companion, Rachael Gieschen, of Smithton. He is also survived by a son, Chaz; his mother, Frankie Byrd, of Portageville; five sisters and three  brothers.
