Mr. Chambers was a member and former chairman of deacons of First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Sedalia Lodge 236 AF & AM, was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star, and was a York Rite Mason and past state officer.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Westminster College and a Masters degree from University of Central Missouri. He spent his entire career teaching at Green Ridge School, retiring as high school principal in 1983. He served on the board of trustees of Southwest Baptist University and holds an honorary doctorate degree. He was currently serving as a board member of the Missouri Baptist Home. He enjoyed traveling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert W. Chambers.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Sager officiating.
Casket bearers will be Joel Sager, David Foster, Dustin Foster, Harold Finke, Francis O’Donnell and Colonel John Cook.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Jack LeRoy Chambers, 80, of Sedalia, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 30, 1928, in Sedalia, a son of George F. and Mabel V. Kirkpatrick Chambers.
