Hazel Eileen Chancey, 92, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born Oct. 16, 1914, in Green Ridge, a daughter of William and Pearl Mae Stout Lessley. On June 6, 1931, in Sedalia, she was married to Herman W. Chancey, who died Sept. 30,1984.
Mrs. Chancey was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a lifelong member of Moose Lodge 1494 ladies auxiliary. She worked as a saleslady for Jupiter for 31 years. She and her husband owned White Valley Dairy. She volunteered for the Bothwell Hospital gift shop, Ewing Vocational Center, Open Door Benevolent Ministries, Multiple Sclerosis Bike Relay and the Family History Center at the church. She enjoyed piece quilting, taking car rides with friends and helping people.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Chancey Green, of Sedalia; a sister-in-law, Lela Potter, of Otterville; a brother-in-law, Harry Young Sr., of Sedalia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Harry Lessley and Fred Lessley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with Dennis Furnell officiating.

Pallbearers will be Joe Filetti, Duane Johnson, Gary Potter, Jerry Young, Pete Young and Justin Furnell.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Children’s Therapy Center.
