Dwight Gene Collister, 60, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Stoney Ridge Village.

He was born June 1, 1943, in Sedalia, Missouri, son of Robert Emil and Lorene Mae Bennett Collister. 

Mr. Collister was a member of Granite Lodge #272 A.F. and A.M.    He worked for Menefee Construction Company before becoming a salesman for Cargil Feed Company and Purina Livestock Company. He then became a farmer raising registered polled Herefords.  He loved gardening, sharing his ingenuity skills and knowledge with others, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Tresa Killion of Houstonia and Christy Stone of Columbia; a son, Dwight Collister II of Sedalia; a brother, Bob Collister of Leawood, Kansas; two sisters, Debbie VanHoecke of Belton and Leah Rae Kinder of Alexandria, Virginia; and five grandsons.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ronnie Collister.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with the Pastor Roger Brant officiating.

Pallbearers will be Gary Powell, Kalen Killion, Sean Killion and Joshua Katemann.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tristen Stone, Tanner Killion and Ernie Antwiler.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.

The family suggests contributions to Bothwell Hospice.
