Elizabeth Joan “Betty” Comstock, 59, of Sedalia, died Monday morning, March
28, 2005, at her home.
She was born September 15, 1945, in Sedalia, a daughter of Melvin James and
Lillian Lorene Richardson Sylvester. On January 26, 1974, in Sedalia, she was married to Gerald “Jerry” Phillip Comstock, who died August 1, 1997.
Mrs. Comstock was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Business Women’s Association. She was a 1963 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and was actively involved in class reunions. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Comstock worked as a secretary at the Liberty Center.
Surviving are a sister, Carol Ann Hoehns, and her husband, Jerry, of Sedalia; her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Sylvester; three aunts, Cora Fay Reese, Marie Mayhan and Eloise Sylvester; a niece, Andrea Kuhlman; four nephews, Kevin Wyatt, Jeff Sylvester, Chris Hoehns and Cory Hoehns; five great nieces; two great nephews; and numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, William Joseph Sylvester and Daniel J. Sylvester.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Cory Hoehns, Chris Hoehns, Kevin Wyatt, Jeff Sylvester, Erik Kuhlman and Monte Richardson.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Liberty Center or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
