Cue Elwood Potter, 97, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009, at his son's home.
He was born April 1, 1912, in Cooper County, a son of Louis J. and Gertrude Gehringer Potter. On November 25,
1930, in Marshall, he married Abbie C. Finley, who died May 8, 1996.
Mr. Potter was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was a farmer and mechanic, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and telling stories about his childhood. He was the caretaker of Providence Baptist Cemetery for many years.
Surviving are a son, Earnest D. Potter, and his wife, Peggy, of Sedalia; a daughter, Velma Petree, of Sedalia; 12 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 37 great great grandchildren; a cousin, Mary Jeanette Hurt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Roger Findley; two grandchildren; and three brothers, L.J. Jr. and Kenneth, and one in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. Travis Webb and the Rev. Tony Chapman officiating.
Burial will be in Providence Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bothwell Hospice or Providence Cemetery.
