She was twelve when her family moved to Beaman, Missouri. She attended Lovelace grade school, Smithton High School, and Central Missouri State Teachers’ College. She taught the primary room at Olive Branch School for four years. She always remembered each student’s name, and kept all of their school pictures. She met her husband, Frank, when he came to light the stove at the schoolhouse.
She was a homemaker in Sedalia for many years, and raised one daughter. From 1959 to 1984, she lived in Columbia, Missouri, where she was active in Parkade Baptist Church, and was on the church bowling team. She retired to Sedalia in 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and attended Broadway Presbyterian Church with her grandchildren.
She enjoyed making crafts, needlepoint and knitting. She knitted over 200 afghans as wedding and baby gifts for friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Dee Anna Blaylock Parkhurst; her son-in-law, M. David Parkhurst; a great granddaughter, Delia Marie Dirck; her brother, Donald Frederick Perkins; and her sister, Fannie Belle Perkins Grimes.
She is survived by her grandchildren, William Robert Parkhurst, Melinda Dee Parkhurst Moore, Lara Maria Parkhurst Dirck and Marcella Nell Parkhurst; 11 great grandchildren, Bailey Alyss, Dee Anna Kathleen, Jackson Robert, Madelyn Nell and Morgan Rae Parkhurst, Frank David and Michael Anthony Moore, Zoe Celeste Dirck, and Talitha Mae, Natasha Rose and Abraham Christopher Parkhurst.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Rob Parkhurst, Jack Parkhurst, Kevin Moore, Frank Moore, Mick Moore and Steven Parkhurst.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Dorothy May Lyth Blaylock, age 94, of Sedalia, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born October 26, 1914, in Highland, Kansas, a daughter of Fred Clifton and Talitha Edith Dittemore Perkins. On August 8, 1940, she married Frank Pershing Blaylock, who died October 30, 1985.
