Gladys Violet Deuel, 86, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born June 29, 1919, in Hastain, in Benton County, a daughter of Everett Hastain and Esma Jane Buckley Forth. On Nov. 14, 1943, in Ely, Nev., she was married to Virgil Lee Deuel, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Deuel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for forty years. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, gardening and flowers. She worked as a seamstress at
Lamy Manufacturing for 33 years.
Also surviving are a daughter, Shirley Weist, and her husband, Bill, of Trenton, Ill.; a brother, Wayne B. Forth, of Versailles; three grandchildren, Sharon
Schaubert, of Effingham, Ill., Robert Weist, of New Menden, Ill., and Brenda Weist, of Keizer, Oreg.; two great grandchildren, Danielle and Andrew Gerstenecker; and four nieces and ten nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Minnie Rodemaker and Mary Wheeler; and three brothers, Clyde Forth, Grover Forth and Merlin Forth.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bob Karbinas, Jerry Visentin, Bill Wheeler, Ronald Bean,
Lance Gerken and Dennis Gerken.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2006, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Heart Association or
Calvary Baptist Church.
