Helen Ivy Deuschle, 93, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Rest Haven Nursing Home.
She was born November 1, 1916, near St. Paul ,Kansas, daughter of Elzia Dixon and Marie Elizabeth Seifert Ashcraft. On March 10, 1940, at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Pilot Grove, she was married to Carl Edwin Deuschle, Sr. who died June 14, 1982.
At the age of eight she moved with her parents to Missouri and settled in Cooper County near Otterville where they farmed moving to Sedalia in October of 1972.
Mrs. Deuschle was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ. She was a Sunday School teacher of young people and was active in the Women's Guild. She was also a 4-H sewing teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Deuschle, Sedalia, Larry Deuschle, Olathe, KS., a daughter, Helen Marie Barbee, De Soto, MO., nine grandchildren and a sister, Ruby Dodson, Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Clifford, Roy and Bill Ashcraft and a sister, Ruth Young.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Yvonne Marshall officiating. Pallbearers will be Allen Deuschle, Brent Deuschle, Brandon Deuschle, Fames Deuschle, Matthew Deuschle and Dean Barbee.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to given to the Anchorage, Alaska Church of Christ Deaf Ministry in care of the funeral home.
