George Louis Diotte, 86, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Warrensburg.

He was born April 29, 1922, in Braintree, Massachusetts, a son of Alexander and Flora Garneau Diotte. On Dec. 16, 1943, in Sedalia, he was married to Joyce Nadine Venable, who survives of the home.

Mr. Diotte was a member of First Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, NARFE and Jolly Elders, and was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He volunteered for the American Red Cross for 12 years at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He retired from the Union Pacific Shops in 1983. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Musslin, and her husband, Dwain, of Sedalia; a son, David Diotte, and his wife, Teresa, of Jefferson City; a brother, Walter Diotte, of Braintree, Massachusetts; two sisters, Rita Dove, of Massachusetts, and Doris M. Johnson, of Quincy, Massachusetts; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great grandson; two great granddaughters; and one step great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matthew Keith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.
