Rev. Doyle Ross Mabry, 78, of Cole Camp, formerly of Sedalia, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born May 13, 1927, in Cole Camp, a son of William Robert and Rosa
Mae Gumm Mabry. On July 18, 1956, in Sedalia, he was married to Effie “Alice”
Ryan, who died Feb. 19, 2000.
Rev. Mabry moved to Sedalia when he was 17 months old. He was educated in
Cole Camp, Rolla and Sedalia public schools. He was united with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Holy Baptism on May 3, 1945. On May 12, 1954, he founded the
Holy Shrine of Jesus nonsectarian faith. He was ordained as a minister by the United
Christian Church and Ministerial Association in Cleveland, Tennessee, on September
25, 1978. He was a minister for over fifty years. His gifts in preaching, music and
writing enabled him to minister to folks of many faiths.
He worked also worked as a theater usher, in supermarkets, and enjoyed cooking, playing piano and entertaining. He had recipes published in magazines and newspapers. He truly loved people, God and his country.
Surviving are a brother, Anthony K. Mabry, of Sedalia; and a sister, Luella M. Reynolds, of Ladson, S.C. He was also predeceased by four brothers, William T. Mabry, Robert L. Mabry, Dudley B. Mabry and Ivan E. Mabry.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Todd Kollbaum officiating. Burial will be in Cole Camp Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Mabry, John Mabry, Kenny Reynolds, Randy Goodman, David Mabry and Daniel Mabry.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
