Lee Ernest Dow, 84, of Georgetown, died Tuesday night, December 23, 2003 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born April 20, 1919, in Sedalia, son of Ralph and Ella Riecke Dow. On March 14, 1941, in Sedalia, he married Esther Mittelhauser, who survives of the home.
Mr. Dow was a member of Georgetown Methodist Church. He was a lifelong resident of Sedalia. He had a row crop and dairy farm with registered Holstein Cattle and was owner/president of Roseland Meats. Mr. Dow enjoyed showing cattle at the Ozark Empire Fair and the Missouri
State Fair with his children. He managed Little
League and Babe Ruth baseball, served on the Georgetown, Houstonia and Northwest R-5 School Boards, was an avid sports fan and a bridge player. He loved music and had been a member of the Sedalia Choral Club. He loved following his children in all of their sports through the years and had built his final home in Georgetown from native lumber from his farm. He was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and attended Drury College.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Dow, of the home; three sons, Bill Dow and Ernie Dow, both of the home, and Frank Dow, of Hughesville; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ella Kreisel; six brothers, Frank Dow, David Dow, Ralph "Stub" Dow, Riecke Dow, John Dow and Paul Dow; and a sister, Ella Dow McVean.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Cripe officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Powell, George McConnell, Carl Mittelhauser, Jeff Mittelhauser, W.R. Dow and Herbert Mittelhauser.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Lewis, Charles Huddelston, Kyle Dow, Crystal Dow, Camie Dow, Nichole Kreisel and Lisa Dow Britson.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
The family suggests contributions to the Georgetown Methodist Church Steeple Fund.
