Esther M. Dow, 89, of Sedalia, died Friday, January 16, 2004 at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born October 14, 1914, in Hughesville, daughter of August and Lucy Schultz Mittelhauser. On March 14, 1941, in Sedalia, she married Lee Dow, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2003.
Mrs. Dow was a member of Georgetown Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Pettis County. She volunteered for many years at Open Door Services. She ran an extensive taxi service for her children's many sports and activities. She attended Georgetown School. In between all of her many activities, she enjoyed spending her quiet time crocheting.
She is survived by three sons, Bill Dow and Ernie Dow, both of Sedalia, Frank Dow, of Hughesville; a brother, Herb Mittelhauser, of Sedalia; and six grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lois Esther Russell and Ella Kreisel; a great grandson, Liam Daniel Britson; and three brothers Maynard Mittelhauser, Willis Mittelhauser and Wilton Mittelhauser in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 19 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Cripe officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Carl Mittelhauser, Jeff Mittelhauser, W.R. Dow, Ray Combs, Kenny Combs and Eldon Kreisel. Honorary bearers will be Kennadean Long, Kyle Dow, Crystal Dow, Camie Dow, Nichole Kreisel and Lisa Dow Britson.
Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Georgetown Methodist Church Steeple Fund.
