Bob J. England, 73, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born June 13, 1934, in Saline County, a son of Jess Calvin and Mary Margaret Holt England. On June 14, 1989, in Boonville, he was married to Dixie Parks, who survives of the home.
Mr. England worked for the Kansas City Police Department for 25 years, retiring as a captain in 1987. He enjoyed University of Missouri football, Smith-Cotton baseball and football, fishing, hunting, reading, working crossword puzzles, and baseball. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Also surviving are two sons, Bill England, and his wife, Debbie, of Kansas City, and Terry Anderson, and his wife, Kathy, of Sedalia; a daughter, Vicki Eckerle, and her husband, Roger, of Sedalia; two sisters, Shirley Williams, and her husband, Gaylord, of Kansas City, and Barbara Smith, of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Billy England, Angie Hagedorn, Erica Daniel, Leland Anderson and Jim Anderson; three great grandchildren, Riley Hagedorn, Ryan Hagedorn and Lathon Daniel; and two nieces, Traci Smith and Lynda Koencke.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill and the Rev. Dr. Donald Allcorn officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Gilmer, Bill Dey, Sonny Thomas, Gene Williams, Floyd Burton, Charlie Newman, David Johnson and Matt Lane.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with honors conducted by the Kansas City Police Department.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hope Lodge, in care of the funeral home.
