Mr. Evans was a member of First Baptist Church. He was owner and operator of Pirtle-Evans Market for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Also surviving was a daughter, Jinx Moore, and her husband, Stan, of Sedalia.
He was predeceased by a sister, Nellie Schnuck.
Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
The family received friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
The family suggested memorial contributions to First Baptist Church.
Charles Frederick Evans, 84, of Sedalia, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born May 8, 1922, in Moniteau County, a son of Charles William and Mamie Harris Evans. On June 27, 1942, in Sedalia, he was married to Helen Pirtle, who survives of the home.
