Mr. Findley was a member of Providence Baptist Church, a lifetime member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 642. He loved to dance, fish, garden and could fix anything. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1949 to 1953. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and had lived in Otterville and Clifton City all of his life.
Survivors include four sons, Roger D. Findley, of Clifton City, Cue Findley, of
Otterville, Aaron Lacey, of Pilot Grove, and Sam Biggs, of Warrensburg; a daughter, Sondra McFatrich, of Smithton; his stepfather, Cue Potter, of Sedalia; a brother, Ernie Potter, of Sedalia; a sister, Velma Petree, of Sedalia; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Rice and the Rev. Tony Chapman officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Parker, Chris Ream, Larry Arnold, David Baysinger, John Turley and Leonard Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Jess Closser and Bill Eads.
Burial will be in Ionia Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 2591.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Roger Findley Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
Roger Lee Findley, 75, of Clifton City, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at his home.
He was born May 29, 1930, in Marshall, Missouri, a son of Abbie Findley. On March 10, 1954, in Fortuna, Missouri, he married Evelyn Maxine Parsons, who died April 9, 2001.
