Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Dearborn High School and later moved to Kansas City where she worked 31 years for Commerce Bank of Kansas City, retiring in 1983. She moved to Sedalia in 1986 to be near her son and his family.
She was survived by her son, E. Myers Johnson, and his wife, Sharon Sue, of
Sedalia; one granddaughter, Christie Walker, and her husband, Andrew, of Swindon, England; a brother, James Milton Jones, and his wife, Rosemary, of Edgerton, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Duncan Jones; and two sisters,
Mary Kathryn Hall and Berniece Dean.
Burial will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery. There will be no family
visitation, however friends may sign the guest book from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Dearborn
Christian Church, P.O. Box 13, Dearborn, Missouri 64439, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Leona Fern Johnson, 86, of Sedalia, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.
She was born on January 19, 1919, in Dearborn, Missouri, a daughter of Sam and Mary Duncan Jones. In 1940, in Dearborn, she was married to Elgin Johnson, who died in 1976.
