Mary Frances Furnell, 66, of Sedalia, formerly of Smithton, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born June 22, 1941, in Jackson County, Missouri, a daughter of Early Gilbert and Mary Frances Lease Hodges. On September 12, 1959, in Sedalia, she
married Larry G. Furnell, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Furnell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
Daughters of American Revolution, and was involved in many different church
activities. She enjoyed doing genealogy and studying her family history, crocheting,
cooking, gardening, canning and playing the accordion. She was a homemaker and had
lived in the Sedalia and Smithton areas most of her life.
Also surviving are two daughters, Terry Lynn Howe, and her husband, Joe, of Sedalia, and Mary Jane Faaborg, and her husband, Britt, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Matthew Pospisil, Jana Detherage, Brian Detherage, and Allen Detherage; four
brothers, Early Gilbert Hodges, of Utah, Elias Jacob Hodges, of Idaho, Edwards “Eddie” Gabriel Hodges, of Arkansas, and Elijah Vern Hodges, of South Dakota; four sisters, Oraphena Catherine “Cathy” Caton, of Sedalia, Pauline Ann “Polly” Boatman, of Arizona, Leona Kay Fritchman, of Utah, and Alice Evelyn Ramsey, of Utah. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Johnson Hodges, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home with Dennis Furnell conducting.
Pallbearers will be Jana Detherage, Brian Detherage, Allen Detherage, Matthew Pospisil, Greg Johns and Doug Fredericks.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
