Mrs. Bishop was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and Sedalia Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star. She had worked at C.W. Flower Company. She enjoyed collecting antiques.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert E. Bates, and his wife, Carol S., of Keystone Heights, FL, and Stephen J. Bates, and his wife, Joyce, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Edward, James, Jean and John; and four great grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Cletus Smith.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matthew Keith officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Goldia Mae Bishop, 87, of Sedalia, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Camden County, Missouri, a daughter of James Jack and Vinnie Flippin Smith. In June 1937, in Sedalia, she was married to Robert Edward Bates, who died March 1, 1975. In 1989, in Sedalia, she was married to Vencil W. Bishop, who survives of the home.
