Gladys Sephurn Byrd, 79, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born April 15, 1930, in Florence, MO, a daughter of Edward B. and Lily Frey Johnson. In 1965, she married Alvin Byrd, who died in 1982.
Mrs. Byrd was a member of the Church of God. She was a ward secretary at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was also the manager at Westside Variety for 17 years. She enjoyed traveling, photography, and watching movies.
Surviving are a brother, Glen Johnson, of Sedalia; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn L. Groves, and her husband, Lee, of Sedalia.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Chilton officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Therapy Center.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
