Gerald James Green, 86, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born Dec. 29, 1920, in East Butler, Penn., a son of James L. and Margaret Heir Green. On Aug. 14, 1943, in Sedalia, he was married to Doris A. Dority, who survives of the home.
Mr. Green was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He retired from Pittsburg Corning after 37 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and Cardinals baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a daughter, Peggy Blatterman, and her husband, Dale, of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Brian Blatterman, and his wife, Cindy, and Lori Smith, and her husband, Chris; five great grandchildren, Chelsea and Kaytlin Blatterman, and Bailey, Tyler and Cody Smith.
He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence; and two sisters, Marjorie, in infancy, and Betty Whitney.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Highland Sacred Gardens, with the Rev. Michael Lockhart officiating.
Pallbearers will be members of the Smith-Cotton High School JROTC. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Blatterman and Chris Smith.
There will be no family visitation, however friends may sign the guest book from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Dority Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
