Darin Dean Gilbertson, 33, of Smithton, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, in Pettis County.
He was born Jan. 28, 1973, in Litchfield, Minn., the first son of Marlin D. Gilbertson and Nancy L. Hayton.
Darin was baptized at his home in Orange City, Iowa.
He was a 1992 graduate of Northwest High School. He lived most of his life in Sedalia.
Darin was a proud uncle and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed music, poetry, movies, making people laugh and being outdoors.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Bill Hayton, of Smithton; his father and stepmother, Marlin and Ling Gilbertson, of Minnetonka, Minn.; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Coon, of Casselbury, Fla.; two sisters, Joan Goodwin, and her husband, Houston, of Knob Noster, and Colleen Gilbertson, of Sedalia; a brother, Jeff Gilbertson, and his wife, Jayla, of Sedalia; two nieces, Justus Gilbertson and Ashlyn Goodwin; four nephews, Rashad, Chris and Ryan, and Tyler Gilbertson; a several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Floyd Van Housen, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Gillman and Alice Gilbertson; and an uncle, Michael Gilbertson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Parkview Christian Church, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be Barry Keele, Chris Girten, Brad Olsen, Jeff Purvis, Chris Cowles and Jay Cornell.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Friday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday.
