At a young age she moved with her family to Smithton, Missouri, where she attended school, graduating from Smithton High School in May 1933. April 6, 1941, she married Marvin E. Goodwin of Sedalia, he preceded her in death on May 31, 1962. Mrs. Goodwin was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She had a great love
for the outdoors where she spent much of her life and fished at every opportunity. She was a lifetime member of the Smithton United Methodist Church, and for many years she was the clerk of the Sunnyside School District.
Survivors include two sons and their spouses: William”Bill” Goodwin and Carol Goodwin of Sedalia, and Lyndon and Sandra Goodwin of Richmond; two daughters and son-in-laws: Marva K. and Steve Blubaugh, of Fredonia, Kansas, and Christy and John Hangley of Columbia, Missouri. Four grandchildren: Mark A. Goodwin, of Richmond, Stephanie(Blubaugh) and her husband Jason Grams of Manhattan, Kansas; John Christopher Hangley of St. Louis, Missouri, and Barr Blubaugh, and his wife, Cassie, of Lebanon, Kansas: one great-grandson: Brady Philip Grams of Manhattan, Kansas; two sisters-in-law: Frances Oswald, of Sedalia, and Carol Goodwin, of Newton,Iowa, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her sister, Madalyn Holtzen.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, with Rev. Don Smith, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Heckart Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Goodwin, Jason Grams, John Christopher Hangley and Barr Blubaugh.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Smithton United Methodist Church.
