Marie Grady, 88, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born August 15, 1920, in Sedalia, a daughter of Harney G. and Carrie Coons Satterwhite. On October 13, 1940, in Sedalia, she married James F. Grady, who died January 21, 1986.
Mrs. Grady was a member of First Christian Church. She attended Mark Twain Elementary School and Smith-Cotton High School, graduating in 1938. She volunteered for the Red Cross and Head Start. She was a Sunday School teacher for special needs children and volunteered in many other capacities in the church.
Surviving locally are several nieces and nephews, including Karen Steele, Judy Steele, Ken Satterwhite, Harry Lynn Satterwhite, and Carolyn Barbour, and many from all over the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Harry and Lloyd; two sisters, Martha Steele and Nellie McVey; a half-sister, Vivian Hoagland; and a half-brother, Russell Satterwhite.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matthew Keith officiating.
Casket bearers will be Kenny Lees, Jonathan Lees, David Lees, Mark Satterwhite, Richard Scott Satterwhite, and Brad Akin.
Honorary bearers will be Zachary Lees, Dave Bryan, and Jerry Hebert.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
