Harry Wayne Harms, 54, of Sedalia, died Monday, March 22, 2004 at his home.

He was born May 7, 1949, in Sedalia, son of Quentin Edward and Eini Rissala Harms.

Mr. Harms was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, American Legion Post 642, where he was
the finance officer, Sedalia Billiard League, where he was vice president, Elks Lodge 125, Moose Lodge 1494, Disabled American Veterans, and Granite Lodge 272.

He was a United States Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.  He served on the Apollo 13 space capsule retrieval crew.  He retired from Union Pacific Railroad.

Survivors include two sisters, Wilma Watring, of Syracuse, and Claudia Fillicetti, of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Edward L. Harms, of Evansville, Indiana; Christian Stetzenbach, who was like a son to him, of Springfield; fourteen nieces and nephews; and seventeen great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Velma Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Marsh officiating.

Pallbearers will be Charles Brandkamp, Vince Kowalewski, Larry Parker, Earl Lawson, Lance McDonald and Tom Kerr.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 and Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 642 and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with military honors presented at the graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
