Dr. Harvey was a chiropractor in Sedalia for thirty years, retiring in 2001. Prior to that he practiced in St. Louis for twenty years. He was a 1951 graduate of Missouri Chiropractic College in St. Louis. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. He was past president of Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club, past worshipful master of Granite Lodge 272 AF & AM, a Royal Arch Mason, and a member of the Missouri State Chiropractors Association, Travelers Protection Association, American Legion Post 16 and Toastmasters Club. He enjoyed watching westerns.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Kehl, and her husband, Andrew, of Normal, Ill., and Lynda Bell, and her husband, Norman, of Sedalia; two sisters, Wilma Dellinger, of Detroit, Mich., and Betty Mood, of University Park, Ill.; and five grandsons, Richard Kehl, Steven Kehl, Michael Kehl, Jordan Bell and Ryan Bell. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Kehl, Steven Kehl, Michael Kehl, Jordan Bell, Ryan Bell and Warren Preuitt.
Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Masonic services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.
The family suggests contributions to Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club scholarship fund.
Dr. John Edgar Harvey, 80, of Sedalia, died Thursday, September 7, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born March 5, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., a son of Willis and Hazel Crump Harvey. On April 24, 1954, in St. Louis, he was married to Lois Jane Hartland, who survives of the home.
