Mrs. Hays was a member of Katy Park Baptist Church. She retired from Rival Manufacturing in 1987. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and birdwatching.
Surviving are four sons, Leslie Hays, and his wife, Carolyn, of Austin, Texas, Larry Hays, and his wife, Alice, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ron Hays, of Austin, Texas, and Mike Hays, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three daughters, Esther Katz,
and her husband, Robert, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Debra Mutz, and her
husband, Walter, of Sedalia, and Pam Bird, and her husband, Shane, of Pea
Ridge, Ark.; a brother, Bill Jobe, of Sedalia; three sisters, Erma Campbell and
Marjorie Fisher, both of Versailles, and Bonnie Cooper, of Stover; 25
grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Inez Hays; four brothers, Garland Jobe,
Wayne Jobe, Maurice Jobe and Stanley Jobe; and a sister, B. Doreen Swails.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Heckart/ Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Jon Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Florence.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hays, Ed Ream, Wray Jobe, Chris Cooper, Stan
Jobe and Kyle Brown.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Katy Park Baptist Church
building fund.
Edith Laverne Hays, 82, of Sedalia, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
She was born June 26, 1922, in Barnett, a daughter of Arthur and Dollie Phelan Jobe. On February 14, 1942, in Sedalia, she was married to August L. Hays, who died May 31, 1995.
