Mr. Hieronymus was a member of the Salvation Army, where he was a lieutenant. He loved working on the farm.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Sam Hieronymus III, and his wife, Jill, of Hughesville; three daughters, Gail Ann Hieronymus, Tracy Lee Burlingame, and her husband, James, and Laura Jean Briggs, all of Marshall; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Joe Hieronymus; two brothers, Jerome and Richard; and a sister, Margaret Stephens.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Longwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Walter Admire officiating.
Casket bearers will be Daniel Hieronymus, Sam Hieronymus IV, Matthew Burlingame, Shawn Burlingame, Isaac Briggs and Bryan Eager.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Samuel Hieronymus, 95, of Marshall, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Royal Oaks Residential Care in Sweet Springs.
He was born April 26, 1913, in Pettis County, a son of Samuel and Ida Gray Hieronymus. On March 28, 1954, he was married to Lilly Mae Anderson, who survives of the home.
