Bernhard F. “Chick” Hoerman, 98, of Smithton, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005,
at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
He was born Jan. 4, 1907, in Smithton, a son of William and Anna Klein Hoerman. In May 1958, in Minneapolis, Minn., he was married to Thorbjor “Tilly” Omlid, who died Aug. 1, 1998.
Mr. Hoerman was a member of Christ & Trinity Lutheran Church. He served
in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a painter and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Surviving are four nephews, Robert Hoerman, of Otterville, Gene Hoerman, of Lamar, Carl Hoerman, of St. Charles, and George Hoerman, of Kansas City; and a niece, Donna Hoerman, of Oronogo. He was predeceased by four brothers, Alois, Albert, George and Theodore; and a sister, Victoria Farmer.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2005, at Smithton Cemetery, with the Rev. Viola Rhoads officiating and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 conducting military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Salvation Army.
