Mrs. Holtzclaw was a member of First United Methodist Church in Independence, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 329, and American Legion Post 0021. She was a homemaker and moved from Sedalia to the Kansas City area in 1951.

Survivors include a son, Charles Dwaine Holtzclaw, and his wife, Diane, of Chappell Hill, Texas; two daughters, Cheryl Sue Thomas, and her husband, William, of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Jeanette Brown, and her husband, Richard, of Leawood, Kansas; six grandchildren , Christine Campbell, Angela Tucker, David Hillen, Daniel Hillen, Tracy Holtzclaw and Robert Holtzclaw; and eight great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Sirks; and a brother, Roy Sirks, Jr., in infancy.

Graveside services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Allen Prueitt officiating.

Pallbearers will be David Hillen, Daniel Hillen, Robert Holtzclaw, Loran Freeman, Eric Tucker and Tyler Wheeler.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 Saturday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Show-Me-Christian Youth Home.
Betty Jane Holtzclaw, 80, of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Sedalia, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

She was born November 21, 1926, in Sedalia, a daughter of Roy and Elsie Mae Shull Sirks. On October 26, 1942, in Sedalia, she married Harlen Dwaine Holtzclaw, who survives of the home.
