Mr. Homan was a member of First Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, American Legion Post 16, Sedalia Lodge 236 AF & AM, Sedalia Shrine Club, 40 & 8, and the Rod and Gun Club, where he was manager for eight years. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. He attended Olive Branch Grade School and Smithton High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from 1947 to 1950.
He worked for the City of Sedalia in the police, fire and street departments.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard L. Homan, of Warrensburg, and Joseph W. Homan, of Sedalia; three daughters, Lola Smith, of Springfield, Connie Chevalier, of La Monte, and Vickie Hageman, of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by a half brother, George Mason Homan; and a half sister, Bobbie Ann Homan.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Wasson officiating. Masonic and 40 & 8 services will be conducted.
Casket bearers will be Steve Galliher, Ryan Galliher, Joseph Homan, Steve McMullin, Jordan Harshner and Lucas Homan. Richard Homan will be an honorary bearer.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by VFW Post 2591.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edwin LeRoy Homan, 78, of Sedalia, died Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2009, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born June 10, 1930, in Sedalia, the son of George Stark and Jessie Belle Bradbury Homan. On March 17, 1953, he married Orillia Smith, who died May 8, 1964. In 1964, he married to Ruby Mae Fowler, who died in 1985. On Feb. 12, 1989, he married Dorothy Fisher, who survives of the home.
