Edythe M. Hyatt, 95, of Columbia, formerly of Sedalia, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the NBA Lenoir Retirement Community in Columbia.

She was born June 13, 1909, in Pettis County, daughter of David W. and Lura Ellen Lane Thomas. On January 10, 1931, in Sedalia, she was married to N.B. “Buster” Hyatt, who
died April 21, 1991.
Mrs. Hyatt was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, where she had been a
Sunday School teacher and active in Women’s Missionary Union. She was a former member
of Smithton School PTA. She worked as secretary and bookkeeper for T&O Lime and Rock
Company. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening, but mainly her family.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Robert Hyatt, and his wife, Therese, of Jefferson City;
three daughters, JoAnn Blaylock, and her husband, Jack, of Columbia, Sue Osborne, and
her husband, Perry, of Panora, Ia., and Margaret J. McMullin, and her husband, Everett, of
Kansas City; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter;
and two sisters, Betty Morton, and her husband, Dean, and Daisy Wasson, all of Sedalia.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Thomas, Darrell Thomas, and
Franklin Thomas, in infancy; and four sisters, Virginia Dirck, Audrey Greer, Mary Phillips
and Ina Ream.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. W.B. Tichenor officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Blaylock, Nick Blaylock, Craig Nichols, Chris Hyatt, James
Berry, Tim Cox, Mike Nissly and Jack Hensley.

Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the
funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Olive Branch Cemetery Association.
