Mrs. Rumsey was a member of New Creation Bible Church. She enjoyed traveling, attending church, reading the Bible, and watching television ministries. When she was younger, she flew an airplane and was a yearbook salesman.
Surviving are a son, Michael Dean Rumsey, of Sedalia; two grandsons, Jacob Dean Rumsey and John Joseph Burkey; a daughter-in-law, Joan Burkey; and a sister, Ruth Dowland.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Russell Burkey; a brother, Jim Yeager; and two sisters, Pauline Harrison and Dee Thrasher.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Kroeger officiating.
Burial will be later in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Joan Helen Rumsey, 84, of Sedalia, passed away in her sleep Thursday, July 9, 2009, at her home.
She was born February 2, 1925, in Warsaw, a daughter of Joseph and Carrie Smith Yeager. On May 24, 1958, in Sedalia, she married Ray Dean Rumsey, who died July 2, 2004.
