Josephine Sophia Thompson, 88, of Sedalia, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, as a result of injuries suffered in an accident on September 20.
She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Wright, Kansas, a daughter of Julius Bernard and Sophia Lutz Wolf. On
June 19, 1939, in Sedalia, she was married to Delbert R. Thompson Sr., who died Aug. 25, 1997.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of St. Patrick Church, where she was formerly
involved in the Altar Society and helping with funeral dinners. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Delbert Thompson Jr., of Smithton, and Don Thompson,
and his wife, Connie, of Sedalia; a daughter, Dolores Wolf, and her husband, Gerald, of Otterville; nine grandchildren, John Thompson, Dana Corcoran, Sheri Thompson- Rogers, Dan Thompson, Laurie Meyer, Michael Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, Gail Meyer and Jacki Hall; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Sister Giles Wolf and Loretta Chmelir; and
five brothers, Tony, Andy, John, Julius Jr. and Henry; and a granddaughter, Amy
Thompson.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at St. Patrick Church, with Father Timothy Armbruster officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Thompson, Dan Thompson, Mike Thompson, Mike
Corcoran, Jason Meyer, Brandon Meyer, Chad Rogers and Todd Hall.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home,
where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Birthright or St. Patrick Church.
