Mrs. Kahrs was a member of Smithton United Methodist Church, where she was past
president of United Methodist Women, sang in the choir and played piano. She was also a member of Helen G. Steele Music Club, Smithton Garden Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and formerly served as the president of Smithton PTA. She was a homemaker and teacher. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending Smithton School events.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol DeMoss, and her husband, Steve, of Smithton, Mary Ann Thomas, and her husband, Karis, of Sedalia, and Nancy Fields, and her husband, Mike, of Smithton; six grandchildren, Chris DeMoss, Craig DeMoss, Erin Thomas, Zachary Thomas, Joshua Fields and Britton Fields; four great grandchildren, Kaylee and Harper DeMoss, and Kyra and Evan Thomas; a brother, Gene Bremer, of Kearney; and a sister, Lois Eichholz, of Smithton.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank J. Bremer and Hal Bremer.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Veale officiating.
Burial will be in Smithton Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Smithton United Methodist Church or Children’s Therapy Center.
Pearl Ruth Kahrs, 92, of Smithton, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 8, 2008, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born April 24, 1916, in Versailles, a daughter of Frank and Revo L. Johnson Bremer. On Aug. 10, 1940, in Smithton, she married Shelby S. Kahrs, who died Aug. 24, 1999.
