Mrs. Kreisel moved to Missouri in 1935 with her mother and graduated from high school here. She attended business college in Kansas City. Upon completion, Betty worked for the gas company in Warrensburg.
After marriage, she joined her husband at his family's business and later became a partner with him at the Sedalia Fruit Company. After his death, she continued to run what she called "the place" for many years, adding a janitorial supply service. Due to failing health, she left the company and moved back to California in 1998 to be closer to her family.
Betty was active in civic and social affairs in Sedalia. She and Gene took great pride in their efforts at Walnut Hills, later to become the Sedalia Country Club at Walnut Hills.
She loved animals. Her dogs and cats were among her great joys. Betty was an avid antique collector and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include five nieces, Marilyn Evans Wagoner, of Corona, Jeannie Arnest, of Warsaw, Cathy Johnson, of Sedalia, Susan Sanderson, of Sedalia, and Gloria Klein; four nephews, Robert Pfeiffer, Fred Pfeiffer, of Sedalia, Jimmie Evans, of Gavilan Hills, California, and Edwin Evans, of Coronado, California; and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 24 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with Robert Phillips officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m.
Elizabeth Lenore "Betty" Kreisel, 81, of Corona, California, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, in Corona, after a long illness.
She was born July 30, 1922, in Santa Ana, California, daughter of William Levi and Annie Ethel Evans. On April 30, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Iowa, she married Eugene Fredrick Kreisel, who died March 26, 1979.
