Mr. Rhoads was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation. He was an United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed farming and going to the coffee shop.

Survivors include a son, Shenandoah Z. Rhoads, of Sedalia; a daughter, Thresea J. Rhoads, of Sedalia; six brothers, Henry Rhoads, of Smithton, Robert Rhoads, of Sedalia, Donald Rhoads, of Shafter, CA, William Rhoads, of Sedalia, Roy Rhoads, of Latham, and Thomas Rhoads; three sisters, Elizabeth Patterson, of Sedalia, Etta Sue Hoffman, of Gary, Ind., and Maryanne Henderson, Pennsylvania. He was also predeceased by a son, Kenneth O. Rhoads, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Wasson officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

Pallbearers will be Sam Hieronymus  Jr., Ivan Ream, Sam Young, Brad Rowland, Chris Dargan and Walt Loveland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kenneth Oliver Rhoads, 74, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born April 8, 1934, in Sedalia, a son of Oscar G. and Anna P. Mittenburg Rhoads. On November 13, 1956, in Sedalia, he married Betty Jean Stephens, who died June 9, 2004.
