Alice Louise Kuhlman, 66, of Sedalia, formerly of Florence, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born October 29, 1937, in Florence, daughter of E.H. and Janie A. Jones Phillips. On June 9, 1973, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Florence, she was married to Harley John Kuhlman, who died September 7, 1981.
Mrs. Kuhlman worked for three years at Stover Textiles and 39 years at Lamy Manufacturing. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Florence and attended New Hope Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sports, especially watching softball games, playing the piano, singing karaoke, listening to music and being a caregiver. She was very involved in the Special Olympics and was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna Kuhlman, of the home; two sons, Randy G. Phillips, and his wife, Sharon, of Sedalia, and Bryan “Bear” Kuhlman, of the home; a brother, Jackie Phillips, of Florence; two sisters, Helen P. Lewis, of Florence, and Joann Egner, of Sedalia; a sister-in-law, Ruby Kuhlman, of California, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, E.J. Phillips, Darrel E. Phillips and Paul Elmer Phillips; a sister, Neoma J. Twyman, of Sedalia; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Kuhlman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2004 at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Cemetery near Florence.
Pallbearers will be Josh McCandless, Steve Craighead, John Wilson, Dennis Thornton, Jamie Cramer and Barry Homan. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Bob Phillips, Ron Phillips, Steve Phillips, Darrin Phillips, Dale Phillips, Mitch Egner and John Kuhlman.
Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Special Olympics.
