Kurt Lynn Williams, 23, of Hughesville, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Lake of the Ozarks near
Camdenton.

He was born September 23, 1980, in Sedalia, son of David B. and Janeene Worsham Williams.


Mr. Williams was a member of First Baptist Church of Houstonia. He worked for Home Court Advantage, a juvenile care and group home facility in Bolivar.

He was a 2004 graduate of Southwest Baptist University, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He was a 1999 graduate of Northwest High School, where he was a member of the speech and drama team, the soccer team, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, show choir and band. He was awarded Best Actor for his portrayal of Little Abner in his high school production of the play. He was awarded the National High School Chorale Award in 1999.

He was a member of the 414 Military Police Company Army Reserve Unit in Joplin. He was a graduate of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington.

Survivors include his parents, of the home; three sisters, Neena Williams, of Jefferson City, Shelley Williams, of Sedalia, and Loretta Williams, of the home; his paternal grandparents, Harold and Marilyn Williams, of Hughesville; and his maternal grandfather, Francis Worsham, of Rogersville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Helen Worsham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Sedalia, with the Rev. Ron Poehlmann and the Rev. Harold Nicks officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Williams, Alonzo Williams, Terry Worsham, David Banderman, John Lawson and Andrew McMullin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Morgan, Hank Stratham, Tommy Lewis, Joey Zeisset, Aaron Harper, Daniel Titus, Travis Weems, Shane Weems, Rick Neal and Enrique Gutarra.

Burial will be in Hughesville High Point Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Monday, August 2, 2004 at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorial contributions are suggested to Home Court Advantage in care of the funeral home.
